about team get some!
This is the fourth appearance for veteran squad Team Get Some! at the San Diego 9/11 Memorial Stair climb. Friends Kelly and Missy are committed to hoofin' it up the Hilton and, yes, we will be wearing the kilts! "Get Some!" is a phrase firefighters use in encouragement to one another, especially in tasks requiring some amount of extra effort.
Team Get Some! is raising money and awareness for FirefighterAid. Both Missy and Kelly have volunteered with FirefighterAid's various outreach events outside of the stair climb and are proud to be associated with such a fine organization.

About the stair climb
The San Diego 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb is a annual charity event that honors the sacrifice of the heroes and victims of 9/11/01 by climbing the equivalent of the same number of stories of the World Trade Towers, 110 stories.
This commemorative stair climb honors the brave 343 FDNY Firefighters, 23 NYPD Officers, and 37 Port Authority Officers that paid the ultimate sacrifice, in order to effect over 10,000 civilian rescues that tragic September morning, as well as honoring the memories of the approximately 3000 civilians who died that day, as well as the 4000 military service members who died subsequent to the attacks.
This climb will honor each of these individuals, and will be the largest event on the West Coast of its kind. This is not a race, this is a charity climb that includes Firefighters (some in full gear), law enforcement officers, Military and civilians.

about firefighter aid
FirefighterAid is the 501(c)(3) fund managed by San Diego Fireman's Relief Association for the sole purpose of providing charitable assistance to Firefighters and families in crisis. FirefighterAid is supported entirely by donations from SDFRA members and the general public. We need the support of our community to continue caring for firefighters and families through sickness, distress, and death.
As a charity, FirefighterAid is unique and offers something many similar organizations cannot. Operating costs of FirefighterAid are paid by the members of the San Diego Fireman's Relief Association, allowing nearly 100% of donated funds to go directly to providing critical support for Firefighters and families in distress.
