We can't do it without you!
We'll put in all of the hard work climbing up the 110 floors; but, we need the support of the community to ensure that there are funds available for firefighters in distress.
Take Arsenio "RC" Ortanez for example. RC is a 20 year veteran of San Diego Fire-Rescue Department who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2007. After his body rejected the medicine, he became in need of a bone marrow transplant. The San Diego Fireman's Relief Association (SDFRA)/FirefighterAid stepped up to the plate to coordinate a bone marrow drive for RC. A match was found! Team Get Some! members Missy and Kelly had the privilege of helping at one of the bone marrow drives and were impressed with the quality of services FirefighterAid provides.
However, Team Get Some! member Kelly never expected that, later that same year, the tables would be turned and she would be on the receiving end of assistance from SDFRA/FirefighterAid. In winter 2012, Kelly was in need and SDFRA came to the rescue, providing her with assistance when she needed it most. The board members were so committed that one Director even volunteered to drive to Kelly's house on Christmas Day to personally ensure that all would be OK. Kelly writes, "We don't just talk up a charity and ask for your money. I ask you to donate because I know first-hand how FirefighterAid makes a difference in the lives of firefighters and their families. When I was in need, FirefighterAid helped me. I want to pay it forward and make sure that others will continue to benefit from this outstanding organization."
We humbly ask you to help us reach our goal.
